Traveling is a lot of fun, but it is even more fun to find unique spots. Spots that most people don’t get the chance to see. Technology has been helping us a lot with this. Several apps can be used to help you find neat spots in every city.
If you are traveling, you need to try these apps to find cool spots in any city that you go to.
Foursquare City Guide
Foursquare is the app you want if you will try and find new things in any city. It has a mass database of locations in just about every city around the world. The app allows you to make travel lists beforehand, get personalized suggestions on spots you will like, and find places based on search or category.
Most of us already use Google for many of the things we do online, from email to searches. Google has many features built into it to make traveling and discover new spots wherever you are accessible. You can search Google Maps or Google for Things To Do, and it will find activities and sights that might interest you in your area. On the Google Maps app, there is also an explore tab. This tab allows you to find new points of interest around you. Google has one of the largest databases of content and, as such, can be an excellent option for travel.
Yelp
Yelp is the place to go to see reviews of locations. It is also a vast database of sites to go and things to do. When you search for something you want to do or see in a new city, it won’t only look in the names and descriptions of places but also in reviews. This allows you to find any number of sites to check out in a city.
TripAdvisor
One visit to TripAdvisor and you can plan every part of your trip, from finding hotels and flights to figuring out what to do. The website has loads of activities, sights, restaurants, and more in every city. There are also lists of different types of activities in each town that can help narrow down decisions. To make it even better, like Yelp, TripAdvisor features reviews of the listings on the site.
Urbanspoon
If you are looking just for a café or restaurant, Urbanspoon is a great app choice. With the app, you can view local restaurants’ reviews and sort them by any number of filters. You can also book tables at any number of restaurants straight from within the app. It is a great option for those who are having trouble deciding where they are going to eat.
Spotted by Locals
Spotted by Locals is a great app to get tips from locals. It includes city guides for several cities around the world. You can even download the apps, so the features are entirely offline. No need to spend money on roaming data. The one problem with Spotted by Locals is the list of cities is still only at 77, so it is mostly available for major cities at this time. This is since real locals write the guide.
Reddit is a community website that can also be accessed via a great app. Any number of different sub-Reddits (sections) can be used to help you find advice on what you need to see. For example, r/Travel, r/Travelhacks, or the cities Reddit. What Reddit does that other apps don’t do, it allows you to get access to residents and other real people who have had experience in the cities you are traveling in.
All of these options are great, whether it is your first time in a new destination or want to learn more about your city. You can quickly use them to discover fun spots wherever you go. From amazing dining experiences to the artwork that only locals would know about. The best part, almost all of these apps are free except for Spotted by Locals, which is well worth the $4 per guide.
